 My Sweet Lil Guy!

Yesterday was the dreaded day of packing up the store for Canton and then setting up the booth in 105 degrees! It's always exhausting in the heat of the summer. My mom had the most brilliant idea, though, for keeping Bryson occupied and cool. She brought his little kiddie wading pool! He loved it and he kept cool and played the whole time and had a ball! I, on the other hand, almost had a heat stroke! No joke, I started getting cold chills and got the whirly-birds and thought I was gonna pass out and puke, then got an enormous headache! I'm getting too old for this stuff I think! Lol! We got 'er done and came home and cooked a homemade pizza for dinner and I gave the little dude his bath and got him ready for night, night time. He sleeps with us and he always wants me to lay down with him until he falls asleep. He was a little angel and was hugging and kissing me and just being so sweet! Next thing I know, he's hugging me and he pats by back with his little hand and says, "Aww, it's my best friend!" I said "Is mommy your best friend?" He told me yes and said, "I love you so much!" I actually teared up and told him how much I loved him and that he was mommy's best friend too. He said, "Mommy, you cryin" I told him mommy was crying happy tears because she had such a sweet little baby boy! I just love him to pieces!!!!! I am truly the luckiest mommy on the whole planet :)

 Keeping the Faith!

You know, sometimes I start to feel sorry for myself and for my son, then I snap out of it and I let Satan know that he will not shatter my faith or kill my spirit because he is a liar and a thief and I won't stand for it!!! I find myself looking at Bryson army-crawling, with his legs dragging behind him, scooting on his rear end across the floor, pulling himself with his arms on his belly board, or rolling in his wheelchair and it makes me want to break down into tears, but I don't because I refuse to feel sorry for him or feel sorry for myself for having a disabled son. He is a happy little boy, who has no idea he is different than other kids. He does, however, know the difference between how he gets around and how other kids get around by using their legs and he tells me to "teach him". I tell him we are raising money so we can get him treatments to make his legs work one day and that God is healing him too! He smiles and says "ok mommy" in his sweet little voice! I am starting to realize and learn that people really take for granted the fact that they are so lucky and so blessed to have children who can use their legs for things as small as walking across the room for a toy or being able to walk beside them at the grocery store. I have to carry Bryson everywhere and if he wants something across the room I have to take him there if it's very far. I have learned also that there are people out there who have it even worse than Bryson and I feel lucky and blessed to have him, without the use of his legs and all! He is a super intelligent, oh so very handsome, very outgoing, happy, rambunctious little boy who is so loving and brings me more joy than I've ever experienced in my lifetime! He just can't walk....yet! I know that God is healing him and that the stem cell treatments will help him rebuild the damaged nerves and he will walk one day! I also know that Bryson has the determination and the will to do anything he wants to and that he is very handicapable, not handicapped!!! I am the happiest and luckiest mommy because of Bryson and I love him more than life itself and I will do everything in my power, and will rely on God's grace, to get him everything he needs to have his chance at walking. I will have every type of fundraiser known to man and will use every resource I can to raise the money for his treatments!

The moral to this story is....When you start to feel sorry for yourself or your situation, just know that there is always someone else out there who has it even worse than you and snap out of it and count your blessings and thank God every day for them! Even though I have to catheterize Bryson every 3 hrs, give him medication 3 times a day, take him to a neurologist, urologist and an orthopedic doctor, go to physical therapy and occupational therapy once a week, I still find myself counting my blessings and thanking God every day for giving me this wonderful little angel I call my son! And, believe it or not, there is actually someone out there who has it way worse than me!!!

God Bless!

 What a great weekend!

Mommy, Daddy and Bryson had a wonderful weekend! Saturday was spent watching a marathon of Toy Story 1, 2 and 3! We all piled on the couch and had popcorn and laughed and played and had so much fun! Sunday started with some John Hagee in the morning, then we swam in the pool, took a long nap and then Bryson played in his sandbox, then we chased him all over the house in his wheel! He loves for you to run and hide and then jump out and scare him. He goes about 90mph all through the house, screaming "Come get me!" or "I'm coming to get you!" It hilarious and exhausting!

The fundraiser activity has stopped again and I am praying that God lays it on the hearts of friends and family to start donating. We have such a long way to go before we reach our goal. This has been such a lesson in patience for me because I so desperately want to be able to take Bryson to get his treatments NOW, but I know God has a perfect plan and will provide when He thinks it's time. One of the ladies I am in contact with whose little girl has spina bifida is in China right now getting treatments and I have been watching the videos of Ava standing on her own and pulling her legs up and walking with assistance up stairs and it makes me want that for Bryson so badly. We will get there!!

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for us. Bryson has a baby well-check at the pediatrician in the morning and then occupational therapy at our house in the afternoon, then it's off to meet with friends about a charity golf tournament we are planning for October 8th. The Barrels for Bryson barrel race benefit is going phenomenal right now! We've got some great people planning this event and it's going to be huge!

I hope everyone had as wonderful a weekend as we did and I will catch you on the next post!!! God bless!

What a great weekend so far!

Bryson is finally over his UTI and feeling so much better! He has had the best time this weekend,, playing and laughing and being so silly! He got to play with his good buddies, Chanlee and Camrbry at the store on Friday and he had a ball. The Disney Channel has had Toy Story on several times today and he has been watching it every time it's come on. He has seen that movie so many times, he can even quote some of the lines from it while he's watching it! I laid down with him until he fell asleep at his nap time today and I actually fell asleep with him, so we had a great little nap together. He woke me up by staring at me about 2 inches from my face and saying, "Whatcha doin mommy?" "I wanna hold you!" then he gave me kisses and said, "On you cheek mommy!" followed by "Hug me mommy!" He is so sweet when he first wakes up! Bryson is a really sweet and affectionate little guy. We are so lucky to be blessed with such an amazing child! I thank God for him every day and I thank God for the great works he is doing in our little boy. Bryson has touched so many lives already at the age of 2 than most of us have our entire lifetime. I can't wait until God totally heals him so he can walk and we can tell our story of a little boy who received the miracle of walking. Bryson is going to be able to witness to so many unbelievers and bring them to know the Lord through his experience. The stem cell treatments we are seeking is just a way to put the good, healthy things back into Bryson's body so God can finish His work in him.

 My Little Comedian!

I'm pretty sure my little man is the cutest, sweetest, smartest funniest baby boy on the planet! Today he was in rare form all day long. We went grocery shopping at Walmart, which is quite an undertaking with him sometimes, and he was happily singing in his own concert, where he sang Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star over and over. Everyone walking down the isles thought it was too cute and so sweet. He proceeded to ask me for hugs and kisses after his singing performance. I was glad to give and receive them for sure! As we are in the checkout line, the lady scanning our groceries was so impressed that he was only 2 and was talking so plainly and in sentences and the fact the he knew so many things. I told her that big ole noggin of his held a very big brain! When we got to the car, he proceeded to tell me he wanted a Happy Meal for lunch, so I told him after we put gas in the car we would go to Mickey D's for a Happy Meal. I guess a grasshopper decided to bum a ride on my windshield because as we pulled off, Bryson said, "Look mommy, a gasshoppa is ridin on you winda!" I laughed and told him that grasshopper sure was riding on our window. He said, "He sure is!" On our way to McDonalds, he says to me, "Mommy, that gasshoppa wants a Happy Meal too, get him one!" As we are on our way home, I'm giving him his chicken nuggets and each one I give him he is saying, "tank you!" He was being so sweet and polite and was saying all his thank you's and pleases just like I taught him. After he has eaten all his food, he proceeds to tell me, "Mommy you cute!" I said, "Thank you baby doll, you're cute too!" That just made my day! That little boy is gonna make a great husband one day!

 Busy As A Bee!

It's been an extremely busy and amazing day today! First of all, I want to give glory to God for putting it on so many people's hearts to donate to Bryson's fund today. My niece and her friend Josey are selling online raffle tickets and there has been a phenomenal amount of people buying them for a chance to win a day with a professional horse trainer. I think at one point, there had been over $400 raised in just an hour and a half, and that's at only $5 a ticket! A few people bought $20 to $50, but most of them were $5, so you can imagine how many times my android phone beeped with notifications today! I was typing like craze thanking everyone for purchasing those raffle tickets! The giveforward.com site did really well today too! Thanks to all who donated today!

Then, it was off to work at The Rhinestone Cowgirl. I own a small, upscale clothing boutique with my mother and we split the work shifts between everyone in my family. I usually work the afternoon shift so Bryson can get his breakfast, lunch and afternoon nap in before I take him to his Nana's. After working at the store until 5pm, it was off to Sulphur Springs, where I met with two dear friends of mine who are helping me plan a charity golf tournament. We hashed out the details for about 2 hrs and we are meeting again next week. Off to Nana's I go to pick up my little man and finally, home for the evening at 8pm. Whew! I'm ready for nighty, night dreamland! What a productive day!

Well, the bad news is, Bryson has yet another UTI! He has horrible relfux, due to his neurogenic bladder, into his kidneys and he is sick all the time with these stupid infections! I just hate it for him. He is having a procedure done sometime soon called a deflux, where a material in injected into the ureter tubes that will stop the urine from flowing backwards. This poor baby gets these infections about once a month and it's just eating me alive because he is constantly having to take antibiotics and I know it can't be good for him. We are trying a natural supplement called D-Mannose, that is supposed to help fight UTI's. We will see! He's only been taking it a little over a week now.

The good news is, it isn't affecting him at all! He has been quite the little character the past few days! His new thing to say when you ask him what he's doing is "Nuthin" as he shrugs his shoulders! We went to Sulphur Springs for physical therapy today and decided to stop by and see Daddy on his mail route and he was so excited. I thought he was gonna jump right out of the car seat when he saw his daddy walking up to the car! Right before Monty got there, some sprinklers went off in someone's yard and he says "Oh my gosh, it's raining" and threw both hands up in the air and then covered his face! I laughed so hard! This kid is so stinking smart, it's unbelievable. He has been counting from 1 to 20 for a while now and a couple days ago I heard him actually counting backwards from 7 to 1! I'm going to put a video on here, as soon as I can get him to cooperate with me, of him singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. It is the most hilarious thing you have ever heard! I can't even describe it, you'll just have to wait till I post it and watch it to see how funny it is!

We have collected around $4,000 for Bryson's fund to date! Thank you God for that! I lift those donations up to my Heavenly Father and give Him all the praise and glory for it! Thanks to all who have donated so far. We still have a very long way to go, but I know God is providing and Byson will be on his way to Mexico very soon! Please keep the donations coming and I will be posting updates on the events that are being planned.

God Bless!

 The boy who gave $4!

We have donation jars set up at some of the local businesses here in Emory and I go collect the money every Friday and then go make a deposit into Bryson's fund. I have to share an amazing story of an amazing little 6yr old boy who donated to Bryson's fund on Friday! I went next door to the Prissy Parlor, a children's clothing boutique, owned by very dear friends of ours, and there is four one dollar bills in the donation jar. Usually there's way more than that, but the lady working at the store that day says to me, "I know it's not much, but let me tell you about the little boy that donated that $4." This little 6yr old boy was in the store with his mother, and I'm sure he was bored out of his mind, so he was walking around and saw the donation jar sitting on the front desk and started reading it. Next thing you know, he is pulling every dime he has out of his pockets and he puts it into the jar! He told his mom he wanted to help that little boy in the picture walk one day. Now, if you remember back when you were a kid, $4 was a lot money to part with, but he parted with every cent of it and was glad to do it! This is the biggest display of generosity I have ever witnessed! What a sweetheart! I wish I had been there to give him a big hug and thank him for his unselfish act. I thank God for that little 6yr old boy and his act of kindness! All I can say is, his mommy is to be commended for raising him right! Could you imagine if a ton of people started giving just $4 or $5, how fast we could reach our goal and get Bryson's stem cell treatments started? I would rather have a magnitude of people giving small donations than waiting on a huge amount of people to give huge donations! Please take the time to make a small contribution to Bryson's fund by clicking on the donate button on this blog site. It's a secure link through paypal and the money goes directly into his bank account. Bryson is going to make huge strides with these stem cell treatments and will reach his goal of being able to walk one day. All of us that were born with the ability to move our legs, take for granted how wonderful it is to be able to stand, walk, run and jump. Please give Bryson his chance to live a normal, functional life by making a donation today! God bless you all and thank you in advance for your donation!

A Day in the Life of Bryson!

I've never really been a morning person, but of course, when you have a child, that all changes because they are certainly morning people! Bryson sometimes gets up as early as 5am! Heck, he's been known to wake up a 2am asking to watch Barney! 9 times out of 10, what Bryson wants, Bryson gets, so we have been known to be sitting in the living room floor watching Barney for a good 2hrs or so before he finally gets tired and wants to go back to bed! Any other time, this would make me pretty upset, but Bryson is the most loving little thing first thing in the morning. How can you resist when a precious voice says to you, "Mommy, I love you so much!" and then he reaches over and gives you an awesomely huge hug around the neck! My heart just melts! We have a morning routine where we get up and turn the Disney Channel on and he dances and sings to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and screams out, "I wanna honeybun!" I get him his honeybun, which has to be on a plate...only a plate! When I bring it to him he says, "What you got there mommy?" It's too cute! Then, it's on to, "I wanna go outside and play in my sandbox" or " I wanna jump on my trampoline", so it's off we outside for a little play time. This morning he actually wanted to get in his wheel stander and blaze around the house at about 90mph before his cartoons and breakfast! Our next step of the day is to get his catheter done and all his medications taken. Bryson has a neurogenic bladder and bowel, so he doesn't know when he needs to go to the bathroom, because of the paralysis from the waist down. So, we do the morning catheter and take the Ditropan, which relaxes the bladder until the next catheter, which is 3hrs later, and will be done every 3hrs for the rest of the day until we go to bed. Anywhere from 11:30 to about 1, he will say, "Mommy, I wanna go night, night" or "Mommy, I wanna take my nap now" and it's off to sleepy land for about an hour, sometimes longer, just depends on how hard he's been playing. When he wakes up he says to me, "Mommy, I wanna hold you" which means he wants me to hold him! I think this must be a universal way of saying "hold me" for all kiddos because every mom tells me their kid says it the same way! After the nap, it's off to Nana's so mommy can go to work for about 3hrs. When he's at Nana's he has a great time swimming and playing with his Aunt Nik, Nik, and his Paw Paw and getting to do anything his little heart desires! He comes home a spoiled rotten little tootie after he's been at Nana's, but that's what Nana's do best! When I get off work, I go pick him up and he has to be put in the car only by Nana and it's the only way we can get him to leave her house. See what I mean, spoiled little tootie! When we get home it's hugs and kisses for Daddy while mommy gets dinner started. After dinner, we usually get to watch cartoons in the bedroom for a little bit before bedtime. It's off to take a bath at about 8, then to bed around 8:30 or 9. We all pile up in the bed...yes, he sleeps with us and has since he's been 4mos old! I guess he was already kind of a spoiled rotten little tootie before Nana got hold of him! It's time for sweet dreams now, until the next morning and the routine starts all over again! Bryson is a big fan of routine. He likes to know what's coming.

Well, that's it! This is a step-by-step guide to our life! There are tons of other things we do, of course, but this is the main routine we have on a daily basis. We have in-home therapy twice a month and therapy at a clinic twice a month as well. We also have lots of doctors' appointments at Scottish Rite Hospital for tests and kideny x-rays and mri's and so forth.

 Exciting News!

I got a phone call on my cell phone at about 9:15 tonight and it's from a 707 area code, so I just let it go to voicemail because I don't recognize it! Who would be calling this late! My phone alerts me that I have a voicemail, so I listen to it and I have no clue who the girl is on the other end of the phone. She says her name is Shannon and she would love to talk to me about an email she got. I was so perplexed that I had to call her back! I must know what she wants and who she is at this point!

Well, long story short, she is a horse breeder that my niece, Kenzi, knows and she was so touched by Bryson's story that she is sending him $1,000 tomorrow for his stem cell fund! Outstanding! God is so good! Shannon told me a story of how she has an 18 mo old baby that is teething and how her day was just terrible today because the baby was crying, she was trying to breed mares, her husband was out of town and she was just at her wits end! After she read Bryson's story, she started crying and thought to herself, "I'm getting upset over this when there is a precious little child out there whose family is going through so much more than I am and all he wants to do is walk" She said she just had to call me to let me know how much it would mean to her to send Bryson a check for $1,000. I was floored! I am in tears at this point myself! I had just been praying to God right before she called and thanking him for all my blessings and telling him I was sorry for be so impatient and getting upset that not many people have donated thus far and that I knew he had a plan and it would all come in his timing, not mine. I told him that I was surrendering it to him and not going to stress about it anymore and that I knew he would provide. My Heavenly Father is so amazing! The glory is given to him and I am so thankful that he listens and rewards us for letting him do his job!

I want to say thank you to Shannon, you are such a blessing to Bryson and my family. And, thank you to my niece, Kenzi, who is working hard on Bryson's fundraiser and who is also a blessing to Bryson and my family.

I'm pumped! It's 10pm and now I can't sleep! Too much excitement has got my adrenaline running off the hook!

 Fundraiser Events!

We will be having a barrel race benefit for Bryson on Sept. 10th at the Mt. Selman Arena in Tyler, Tx.! Please come out and join us! There will be a silent auction, raffle prizes and $5,000 added money to this event! We will also be selling "Barrels for Bryson" t-shirts!

Bryson's big sister, Sissy Channing, is also organizing a backyard volleyball tournament in Collinsville, Ok. in August! Channing's best girlfriend, and hairdresser, will be having a "Cut for the Cure" at her salon on August 29th and all the proceeds from that day are going to Bryson's fund! We have such amazing family and friends!

I had lunch with my dear, sweet friend Lisa Barclay yesterday and we will be planning a golf tournament to be held sometime in late Sept. or early Oct. at the Sulphur Springs County Club. I will post the details of this event a little later. I can tell you that there will be a silent auction, raffles, door prizes, t-shirts and a catered lunch for this event!

Bryson has been just hilarious this morning! He has been pulling off chunks of foam from the dog's bed and shoving it up his nostrils and saying "Look mommy, I got the boogas, ewww!" It doesn't take much to entertain him! He's such a little sweetheart too! We went to the bank this morning and he told the teller he wanted a "sucka" and when she gave it to him he said "Tank you lady!" So cute and so sweet!

 Let the Fundraisers Begin!!!

Well, let' see, this is my first time to blog, ever, so I'm not really sure how all this works, but here goes....

My family and friends are helping me set up numerous fundraiser events so my son, Bryson, born with spina bifida, can get stem cell treatments! Exciting times in the Chailer household! We already have one online fundraiser going on right now and anyone who wants to donated can do so by going to giveforward.com/stemcellsforbryson. The website is a secure online site where you can use your debit or credit card to make a donation. I also have a bank account set up for Bryson and you can write a check, payable to Stem Cells for Bryson Fund and mail is directly to me at 681 Rs. County Road 2180, Emory, Tx 75440.

Now that all that's out of the way....let me tell you a little bit about an amazing little boy named Bryson! My "little man" as we like to call him around our house, is 2 1/2 yrs old, extremely intelligent, and is the most hysterical little guy you've ever met! He's just a little ball of energy! Overall, Bryson is a very healthy little boy, he was just born with a spinal defect that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Bryson sees other kids running and playing and he always says to me "mommy, I wanna run!" Well, we've done research for about a year now and we have come to the conclusion that stem cell treatments will give him a chance to run! It costs quite a bit of money for these treatments, so we are asking for a lot of help. This is where all of you come into the picture! Once we raise the money for the treatments, we will all pack up and go to Mexico, where Bryson will receive donated umbilical stem cells that will be injected into his lower lumbar spine and also through an IV line. It takes approximately 2 mos to see any results from the stem cell injections. Hopefully, with the stem cells and intensive physical therapy, Bryson will be one step closer to taking his first steps ever!

Please go to the giveforward.com website and donate to this cause. We know with God on our side, we can achieve anything! Our faith is strong and we know God is still the Great Physician and with the help of the stem cells, Bryson will be able to walk, run, jump and play!

God bless and much love,

Kara, Monty and "Little Man" Bryson
